Holiday Service- Good Friday, April 18, 2003

  • A regular holiday service will be scheduled on Good Friday, April 18, 2003. This means that routes which operate on Sundays in April will operate at the same levels of service as on Sundays, but service will start earlier in the morning, at about the same time as on Saturdays.

Scarborough RT

Late Evening Closure for Structural Rehabilitation - to mid-October 

  • The Scarborough RT will close earlier each night, in order to permit the second phase of the structural rehabilitation of the elevated portion of the line. The last train will leave at approximately 12:00 midnight from Monday to Saturday, and at approximately 11:00 p.m. on Sundays and holidays. A frequent express bus service will replace the RT at the times when it is closed. Buses on the 54 Lawrence East route will not operate into Lawrence East Station after the last RT train serves the station.

This service change will be in effect to mid-October 2003.

Bus routing

Northbound/eastbound: From Kennedy Stn (131E northbound bus bay), east on Eglinton Avenue, north on Midland Avenue, east on Ellesmere Avenue, north on McCowan Road, west on bus roadway to Scarborough Centre Station (serving the 131E southbound bus bay).

Westbound/southbound: From Scarborough Centre Station (131E southbound bus bay), east on bus roadway, south on McCowan Road, west on Ellesmere Avenue, south on Midland Avenue, west on Eglinton Avenue to Kennedy Station.

Stopping pattern

  • Buses stop at Kennedy Station, Midland & Lawrence (for Lawrence East Station), Midland & Ellesmere (for Ellesmere and Midland stations), McCowan Station, and Scarborough Centre Station only.

20 Cliffside

Service increase

  • A new later eastbound trip will be added from Monday to Friday, leaving Main Street Station at approximately 10:20 p.m.

42 Cummer

Service increase

  • Service will be increased at noon on Sundays and holidays, to reduce crowding. The service will be improved from every 30 minutes to every 20 minutes, starting at approximately 12:00 noon.

Earlier trips

  • An earlier round trip will be added on Sundays and holidays, departing westbound from Kennedy Road at approximately 8:00 a.m. and departing eastbound from Finch Station at approximately 8:30 a.m.

25 Don Mills

Schedule change

  • The end of the line on the north-end on-street loop on the 25D (Pape Stn-16th Ave) will be changed, seven days a week, to minimise the number of customers who must wait on the bus during any layovers. In the morning, the layover location will be after buses have travelled over the on-street loop. After 12:00 noon, the layover location will be at the beginning of the on-street loop.

Routing:

Northbound before noon: Over the present route north on Leslie Street, east and north on Commerce Valley Drive East, north and west on East Beaver Creek, north on Mural Street, west on 16th Ave, south on Granton Drive, west and south on West Beaver Creek to Highway 7.

Southbound before noon: From Highway 7 and West Beaver Creek, east on Highway 7, south and west on Commerce Valley Drive East, and south on Leslie to route.

Northbound after noon: Over the present route north on Leslie Street, east and north on Commerce Valley Drive East to Highway 7.

Southbound after noon: From Highway 7 and Commerce Valley Drive East, north and west on East Beaver Creek, north on Mural Street, west on 16th Ave, south on Granton Drive, west and south on West Beaver Creek, east on Highway 7, south and west on Commerce Valley Drive East, and south on Leslie to route.

36 Finch West

Service reliability improvement

  • Service will be made more reliable during the afternoon peak period, by changing the schedule to give buses more time to operate over the route. There will be no change to the service levels.

31 Greenwood 

Additional service to Eastern AvenueEastern Avenue

  • Four round trips will be operated on the 31B (Greenwood Stn-Eastern) branch, instead of the 31 (Greenwood Stn-Queen) branch, during the afternoon peak period, and one additional round trip will be operated on the 31B branch instead of the 31 branch in the morning on Saturdays. Service on the 31B branch will operate from about 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. Monday to Friday, and from about 6:00 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. on Saturdays. In the afternoon, the service will change from every 8 minutes to every 10 minutes.

509 Harbourfront

Seasonal service changeservice change

  • Early evening service will be operated on Sundays and holidays, every 20 minutes, because ridership increases along Harbourfront in the spring. The last trip times will be the same as on Saturdays.

Service increase – Seasonal service change

  • Service will be increased on weekends and holidays. On Saturdays, service will improve from every 13 minutes to every 10 minutes. On Sundays and holidays, service will improve from every 20 minutes to every 10 minutes.

504 King, 503 Kingston rd., 508 lake shore

King Street Track Project

  • Continuing through to October 2003, the Toronto Transit Commission will be replacing the streetcar rails on King Street from River Street in the east end to Close Avenue in the west end.

  • Service change for streetcar track reconstruction on King Street continue, with a two major projects, between Shaw Street and Spadina Avenue, and between Charlotte Street and Church Street.

  • Streetcars on the 504 King route will be diverted eastbound via Shaw, Queen, and Church streets, and westbound via Church, Richmond, Victoria, Queen, and Shaw streets. Cars on the 503 Kingston Rd route will be diverted via Queen and Church streets. Cars on the 508 Lake Shore route will be diverted via Shaw Street and Queen Street, and in the afternoon peak period will loop via Church, Richmond, and Victoria streets.

  • There will be no replacement bus service for this project. As the work progresses on King Street, the streetcar diversions will change.

45 Kipling

Service increase

  • An earlier round trip will be added from Monday to Friday on the 45A (Kipling Stn-Carlingview via Belfield) branch.

  • New first northbound trip from Kipling Station to Disco Road departing at approximately 5:20 a.m.

  • New first southbound trip from Disco Road to Kipling Station departing at approximately 5:47 a.m.

51 Leslie

Service reliability improvement

  • Service will be made more reliable during the peak periods and midday from Monday to Friday, by changing the schedule to give buses more time to operate over the route. There will be no change to the service levels, but trip times at many stops along the route will change.

102 Markham Rd

Service increase

  • An earlier northbound first trip will be added between Warden Station and Passmore Avenue from Monday to Friday. The new first trip will depart from Warden Station at approximately 5:00 a.m. on the 102C (Warden Stn-Passmore) branch.

134 Progress

  • Service will be made more reliable on Sundays and holidays, by changing the schedule to give buses more time to operate over the route. The service will change from every 30 minutes to every 36 minutes.

80 Queensway

Late evening service west of Humber Loop

  • New late evening service will be operated west of Humber Loop, from Monday to Friday. The new service will operate every 30 minutes on the 80B Queensway (Humber Loop-Sherway) branch. At Humber Loop in both directions, 80B Queensway buses become 66A Prince Edward buses, in order to provide a direct transfer-free connection with the Bloor-Danforth subway at Old Mill Station.

  • Service will be made more reliable, midday from Monday to Friday, by adding time to the schedule so that streetcars can recover from any delays along the route. The service will change from every 6 minutes 12 s to every 7 minutes.

85 Sheppard East

Service reliability improvement

  • Service will be made more reliable during the midday and afternoon peak period from Monday to Friday, by changing the schedule to give buses more time to operate over the route. During the midday, the service between Don Mills Station and Meadowvale will change from every 7 minutes 20 seconds to every 7 minutes 40 seconds, and the service between Sheppard-Yonge Station and Don Mills Station, and between Meadowvale and Rouge Hill GO Station, will change from every 22 minutes to every 23 minutes. There will be no change to the service levels during the afternoon peak period.

60 Steeles West

Service increase

  • Service will be increased between approximately 7:00 and 9:30 a.m. on Saturdays, to reduce crowding. The service east of Keele Street will be improved from every 20 minutes to every 10 minutes. Service at York University on the 60C (Finch Stn-York University) branch will start earlier, at approximately 9:00 a.m., instead of 10:00 a.m.

168 Symington

Service reduction

  • Two trips in the late evening, seven days a week, will be discontinued, because of low ridership.

Trip details

  • The 1:45 a.m. 168A northbound trip from Dundas West Station to St. Clair Avenue will be discontinued.

  • The 1:30 a.m. 168A southbound trip from St. Clair Avenue to Dundas West Station will be discontinued.

24 Victoria Park

Service increase

  • Service on the 24A (Victoria Park Stn-Don Mills Stn) branch will be increased at the end of the morning peak period from Monday to Friday, by adding two eastbound trips from Don Mills Station.

Service reduction

  • The current last southbound trip departing from York Mills Road at 7:25 p.m. from Monday to Friday will be removed, due to low ridership north of Lawrence Avenue.

196 York University Rocket

Service increase

  • An additional southbound trip will be scheduled at the end of the early evening, from Monday to Friday, to reduce crowding. The bus will leave The Common at approximately 10:36 p.m.
