117 Alness

Service increase

  • Service will be increased at the end of the morning peak period from Monday to Friday. Two southbound trips will be added from Steeles Avenue, departing at approximately 8:53 and 9:09 a.m.

Schedule change

  • The schedule will be adjusted so that during the midday from Monday to Friday, buses will depart from Downsview Station at :15 and :45 minutes past the hour, in order to better co-ordinate with the departure times of the 105 Dufferin North route, which depart on the hour. There will be no change to trip times on the 105 Dufferin North route.

7 Bathurst

Service reliability improvement

  • Additional time will be added to the schedules of the 7 (Bathurst Stn-Steeles) service during the peak periods from Monday to Friday, to improve the reliability of service. The service will change from every 5 min 45 s to every 6 min in the morning peak period, and from every 6 min 40 s to every 7 min in the afternoon peak period.

160 Bathurst North

Service reliability improvement

  • Additional time will be added to the schedules in the mid-afternoon from Monday to Friday, to improve the reliability of service. There will be no change to service levels.

6 Bay

Seasonal service change

  • Service will be operated during the early evening on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, to accommodate increased travel to and from the Harbourfront area and the Toronto Islands. Buses will run every 20 minutes. The last northbound trip will leave Queens Quay at approximately 10:30 p.m., seven days a week.

  • The last day of this Saturday, Sunday, and holiday early evening service will be Labour Day, Monday, September 3, 2001.

506 Carlton

Seasonal service reduction

  • Service will be reduced during the afternoon peak period from Monday to Friday, as ridership declines on this route beginning in May. The service will change from every 4 min 40 s to every 5 min.

108 Downsview

  • The north-end destination will be changed from Jane to Jane & Driftwood, to better describe where on Jane Street the route ends.

29 Dufferin

Seasonal route extension

  • The route will be extended into Exhibition Place, turning around near the Queen Elizabeth Building, to provide closer service to Ontario Place. This service will operate after approximately 9:00 a.m., seven days a week, except when major events are being held at Exhibition Place. Buses will run every three to six minutes during the day, and every six to ten minutes in the evening. Service into Exhibition Place will end in mid-August, just before the CNE opens.

Southbound - South on Dufferin Street, not through Dufferin Loop, east on Saskatchewan Drive, east on Princes' Boulevard, west on Quebec Street, and south on Ontario Drive to Princes' Boulevard.

Northbound - West on Princes' Boulevard, west on Saskatchewan Drive, north on Dufferin Street, west on Springhurst Avenue, south on Fort Rouille Street, east through Dufferin Loop, and then north on Dufferin Street to the regular route.

Service reliability improvement

  • Additional time will be added to the schedules during the afternoon on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, to improve the reliability of service. There will be minor changes to the frequent service levels operated on this route.

505 Dundas and 504 King

Track reconstruction

  • The streetcar tracks on Broadview Avenue between Hogarth Avenue (just south of Danforth Avenue) and Gerrard Street will be reconstructed. Streetcars will not serve Broadview Station, and there will be no streetcar service on Broadview Avenue north of Gerrard Street. Cars on the 505 Dundas route will be diverted to loop on street via Parliament, Gerrard, and Broadview to Dundas. Cars on the 504 King route will be diverted to loop on street via Parliament, Dundas, and Broadview to Queen and King streets.

  • A 504/505 King/Dundas replacement bus service will be operated from Broadview Station over a one-way counter-clockwise circular route via Bloor, Parliament, King, Queen, and Broadview (with a short on-street looping to the south-west of the King/Parliament intersection so that buses and streetcars can serve a common eastbound stop at King and Parliament). The replacement bus service will operate every four- to five-minutes during the daytime, and every seven minutes in the evening.

  • On Broadview Avenue, continuous northbound service between Queen and Broadview Station will be provided by the replacement bus service. There will be no southbound service on Broadview between Broadview Station and Gerrard. Southbound service on Broadview between Gerrard and Dundas will be provided by the diverted 505 Dundas cars, and southbound service on Broadview between Dundas and Queen will be provided by the diverted 504 King cars.

  • Depending upon the progress of the track reconstruction, the replacement bus service will be changed to operate both ways along Broadview Avenue, between Broadview Station and King & Parliament, as soon as road conditions permit. The replacement bus service will end, and regular streetcar service will resume, on Sunday, June 24, 2001.

34 Eglinton East

Service change

  • Scheduled trip times early in the morning will be adjusted to provide a more evenly-spaced service. The first two westbound trips in the morning will start in service on Eglinton Avenue at Brimley Road at 5:00 and 5:13 a.m.

39 Finch East

Service increase

  • Three additional eastbound 39A (Finch Stn-McCowan) trips will be operated from Finch Station, between 6:30 and 6:55 p.m. from Monday to Friday, to reduce crowding at the end of the afternoon peak period.

509 Harbourfront

Seasonal service increase

  • Service will be increased in the early evenings on weekends and holidays, because ridership increases along Harbourfront in the summer. The service will be improved from every 20 min to every 10 min.

Late evening service - Seasonal change

  • Late evening service will be operated, seven days a week, because ridership increases along Harbourfront in the summer. After approximately 10:00 p.m., the service will operate every 20 min from Monday to Friday, and every 10 min on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

  • Service to Exhibition Place will start an hour earlier on Saturday mornings, because of increased activity at Exhibition Place in the summer.

Summer weekend fare collection at Union Station

  • On Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from May 19 to September 3, a modified fare collection procedure at Harbourfront will be used, in order to speed boarding at busy stops at busy times.

  • Customers who board 509 Harbourfront or 510 Spadina streetcars at the eastbound stops on Queens Quay at Bathurst Street, Portland Street, Spadina Avenue, Rees Street, Simcoe Street, and York Street, and at the northbound platform at Queens Quay Station, will enter the streetcars through any door and will not pay a fare or be issued a transfer. Customers boarding cars at these stops will pay their fares after leaving the car at Union Station. Normal pay-as-you-enter fare collection and transfer-issuing procedures will be used at all other stops on the 509 Harbourfront and the 510 Spadina routes. All customers boarding eastbound cars at the Exhibition and at the stops on Fleet Street will be issued transfers, to be used as proof of payment if they travel to Union Station. This fare collection procedure will be used up to and including Labour Day, on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

191 Highway 27 Rocket

Seasonal hours of service change

  • Several trips on the 191A Highway 27 Express (Humber College-Kipling Stn) branch will be removed for the summer, as ridership declines on this route beginning in May.

These trips will be cancelled:

Northbound trips from Kipling Station at 8:56, 9:28, 9:44, 10:00, 10:16, 10:32, and 10:48 a.m.
Southbound trips from Humber College at 9:23, 9:39, 9:55, 10:11, and 10:27 a.m.

37 Islington

Service change for City construction

  • The City of Toronto is planning to rebuild the bridge which supports the Islington Avenue/ Dundas Street intersection. The construction is scheduled to begin in mid-May, and will continue until late in the year. Both streets will be reduced to two lanes in each direction, with no separate left-turn lanes. In order to reduce the effects of traffic congestion, additional time will be added to the schedules of the 37 Islington route, during the midday and afternoon peak period from Monday to Friday, and during the daytime on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. There will be no change to service levels.

107 Keele North

Seasonal routing change

  • At the request of York Region Transit (Vaughan), the direct service to York University will be removed after winter term classes and exams end at the University. This change will begin on May 26, 2001. Buses will operate on the 107B and 107C branches, instead of on the 107D and 107F branches via the University. There will be no change to service levels.

  • The fare zone boundary overlap between Steeles Avenue and York Boulevard allows customers travelling in either direction between Vaughan and the York University area to travel at one fare between Vaughan and the stop on Keele Street at York Boulevard.

52 Lawrence West

Service reliability improvement

  • Additional time will be added to the schedules during the afternoon peak period from Monday to Friday, to improve the reliability of service. The service on the 52 (Lawrence Stn-Martin Grove) branch will change from every 7 min 17 s to every 7 min 30 s. The service on the 52C (Lawrence Stn-Culford via Benton) branch will change from every 30 min to every 37 min 30 s. Trip times on the 52C branch will be scheduled to be offset with trip times on the 52 branch.

58 Malton

Service reliability improvement

  • Additional time will be added to the schedules during the afternoon peak period from Monday to Friday, to improve the reliability of service. There will be no change to service levels.

116 Morningside

School trip change

  • Two school trips that are currently scheduled to serve Sir Wilfrid Laurier C. I. will be adjusted to better match the new dismissal time of the school. An eastbound/northbound trip will depart from the school at 3:18 p.m., and a southbound/westbound trip will depart from Lawrence Avenue and Morningside Avenue at 3:14 p.m., and will serve the school a few minutes later.

134 Progress

Seasonal service reduction

  • Service will be reduced on the 134C (Scarborough Centre-Centennial College) branch during the morning peak period from Monday to Friday, as ridership declines on this route beginning in May. The service will change from every 5 min to every 8 min. There will be no change to service on the 134B (Scarborough Centre-McNicoll) branch.

109 Ranee

Service reliability improvement

  • Additional time will be added to the schedules during the afternoon peak period from Monday to Friday, to improve the reliability of service. The service will change from every 12 min 30 s to every 15 min.

73 Royal York

Seasonal route extension to Toronto Zoo

  • The route will be extended to the Toronto Zoo on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, until approximately 8:30 p.m. There will be no change to service levels, and buses will continue to run every eight to 15 minutes. The last day of Saturday, Sunday and holiday seasonal service to the Zoo will be Labour Day, Monday, September 3, 2001.

Later service from Toronto Zoo - Seasonal service change

  • Later service will be provided from the Toronto Zoo in the early evening from Monday to  Friday, to match the later closing time of the zoo, at 7:30 p.m. The last trip will leave from the zoo at approximately 8:30 p.m.

510 Spadina

Service increase

  • Service will be increased during the daytime on Saturday, to reduce crowding. The service between Spadina Station and King Street will be improved from every 2 min 30 s to every 2 min 10 s.

Later service from Toronto Zoo - Seasonal service change

  • Later service will be provided from the Toronto Zoo in the early evening on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, to match the later closing time of the zoo, at 7:30 p.m. The last trip on the 85B (Sheppard Stn-Toronto Zoo) and 85D (Sheppard Stn-Rouge Hill GO Stn via Toronto Zoo) branches will leave from the zoo at approximately 8:30 p.m.

53 Steeles East

Revised operation

  • Operations on the on-street loop for the 53 Steeles East (Finch Stn-Pharmacy) buses in the morning peak period will be changed, so that most customers will not have to wait while the bus lays over. Buses will lay over at the first southbound stop on Pharmacy Avenue south of Steeles Avenue.

Eastbound, morning peak period - From Finch Station, west on Bishop Avenue, north on Yonge Street, east on Steeles Avenue to south on Pharmacy Avenue.

Westbound, morning peak period - From Pharmacy Avenue just south of Steeles Avenue, south on Pharmacy Avenue, west on Gordon Baker Drive, north on Victoria Park Avenue, west on Steeles Avenue, south on Yonge Street, east on Bishop Avenue to Finch Station.

60 Steeles West

Seasonal service reduction

  • Service will be reduced slightly at the end of the morning peak period, as ridership declines on this route beginning in May. The additional service between Finch Station and York University which is operated between approximately 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. will be removed. At these times, service will continue to operate every 11-to-12 min to York University and every 11-to-12 min to Martin Grove.

10 Van Horne

Additional stop

  • Westbound 10E (Sheppard Stn-Victoria Park Express) buses now serve the stop on Sheppard Avenue on the east side of Yonge Street, so that customers have the option of leaving the bus and getting to the subway faster. This change began on Monday, March 12, 2001.

Stopping details

Westbound 10E (Sheppard Stn-Victoria Park Express) - Buses serve all stops from Victoria Park to Don Mills & Sheppard, and then stop only at Sheppard & Yonge and Sheppard Station.

Eastbound 10E (Sheppard Stn-Victoria Park Express) - Buses serve Sheppard Station and then operate express to Don Mills. Buses serve the stop at Don Mills & Sheppard and then serve all stops to Victoria Park.

165 Weston Rd North

Seasonal route extension

  • At the request of York Region Transit (Vaughan), service will be extended to Canada's Wonderland, on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, from Saturday, May 12 to Sunday, October 7. The extended service will operate from 9:35 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Saturdays, and from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sundays and holidays.

  • The first trip will arrive at the park at approximately 9:34 a.m. on Saturdays, and at 9:27 a.m. on Sundays and holidays. The last trip will leave from the park at 10:40 p.m. on Saturdays, and at 7:23 p.m. (to York Mills Stn, with a later trip at 8:09 p.m. to Steeles Avenue only) on Sundays and holidays. Buses to the park will operate every 30 minutes during the daytime on Saturdays, approximately every 50 minutes during the evening on Saturdays, and every 48 minutes on Sundays and holidays. Trip times in Toronto will not change.

  • Customers travelling on 165 Weston Rd North buses north of Steeles Avenue are required to pay a valid York Region Transit fare.

Vehicle type change

  • All service will be provided by low-floor accessible buses, replacing lift-equipped accessible buses. There will be no change to service levels or trip times.

196 York University Rocket

Seasonal service reduction

  • Service will be reduced, as ridership declines on this route beginning in May. Service will operate every 13 min in the morning peak period, every 20 min in the midday, and every 15 min in the afternoon peak period. There will be no change to the evening service. During the peak periods, all buses will operate on the 196B (Sheppard Stn-York University via Downsview Stn) branch. During the midday and evening, all buses will operate on the 196A (Downsview Stn-York University) branch.

HOLIDAY SERVICE

Victoria Day, Monday, May 21, 2001

  • A regular holiday service will be scheduled on Victoria Day, Monday, May 21, 2001. This means that routes which operate on Sundays will operate at the same levels of service as on Sundays, but service will start earlier in the morning, at about the same time as on Saturdays.

64 Main and 23 Dawes

Holiday service increase

  • Service will be increased on Victoria Day, Monday, May 21, to the same level as will be provided on Sundays and holidays later in the summer. The service will be improved from every 20 min to every 15 min.
