Seasonal hours of service change

  • Service will be operated during the early evening on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, from May 12 to September 2, 2002, to accommodate increased travel to and from the Harbourfront area and the Toronto Islands. Service will be every 20 min. With this change, the last northbound trip will leave Queens Quay at approximately 10:30 p.m.

11 Bayview

25 Don Mills

Service reduction

  • One trip will be discontinued south of Eglinton Avenue, because of low ridership.

Trip details

The 5:55 a.m. Monday-Friday northbound departure from Pape Stn will start northbound on Don Mills Road Street at Eglinton Avenue at 6:14 a.m.

Trip change

  • A trip that currently departs northbound from Fenelon Loop to carry students from George S. Henry Academy will be changed to depart northbound from Don Mills Road and Overlea Boulevard at 3:30 p.m., and will operate to Finch Avenue. This change will reduce crowding which occurs at dismissal time at schools along Don Mills Road north of Overlea Boulevard.

New off-peak service to 16th Avenue

  • New service to 16th Avenue will be operated during the midday and early evening from Monday to Friday, and during the daytime and early evening on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. The service will operate on the existing 25D Don Mills (Pape Stn-16th Ave) branch, and will operate every 30 to 40 min. There will be no change to service levels or trip times south of Steeles Avenue.

29 Dufferin

Seasonal route extension

  • The route will be extended into Exhibition Place, to provide service closer to Ontario Place. This frequent service will operate after approximately 9:00 a.m., seven days a week, except for when major events are being held at Exhibition Place.

Southbound to Exhibition and Ontario Place: Over the regular route to south on Dufferin Street, east on Saskatchewan Road, east on Princes' Boulevard, west on Quebec Street, south on Ontario Drive to Princes' Boulevard.

Northbound from Exhibition and Ontario Place: From Princes' Boulevard, west on Saskatchewan Road, north on Dufferin Street, west on Springhurst Avenue, south on Fort Rouille Street, east through Dufferin Loop, north on Dufferin Street to the regular route.

Later evening service

  • Service will be operated approximately one hour later from Monday to Friday, two hours later on Saturdays, and three hours later on Sundays and holidays, so that the last trip every day is at approximately 10:00 p.m. Service will be every 60 min.

505 Dundas

Seasonal service reduction

  • Service will be reduced during the peak periods from Monday to Friday, as ridership declines when classes end at Ryerson University. The service will change from every 5 min to every 5 min 20 s.

32 Eglinton West

Service increase

  • Two trips will be added, to reduce crowding.

Trip details

A new 2:43 p.m. Monday-Friday eastbound trip will be added from Eglinton & Kipling to Eglinton Station.
The 2:00 a.m. seven days a week westbound departure from Eglinton Station will be changed to depart Yonge Street at 1:57 a.m. and operate to Pearson Airport on the 307 Eglinton West overnight route.

New evening and Saturday service to Skymark

  • New service will be operated to Skymark Avenue, on the 32 (Eglinton Stn-Renforth & Skymark) branch, during the early evening from Monday to Friday and the daytime on Saturdays. The service will operate every 15 min during the early evening and every 14 min on Saturdays. There will be no change to service on the rest of the 32 Eglinton West route. TTC fares only are accepted on this service.

15 Evans

Service reduction

  • Service will be reduced during the daytime on Saturdays, Sundays, and holiday, so that the resources can be used to increase service on other routes. The service will change from every 24 min to every 30 min on Saturdays, and from every 20 min to every 30 min on Sundays.

100 Flemingdon Park

Service increase

  • One trip will be added, to reduce crowding.

The 6:30 p.m. Sunday southbound departure from Don Mills & Eglinton will be discontinued.

14 Glencairn

Round trip time increase

  • The Chaplin Crescent bridge over the Yonge subway is being rebuilt. Eastbound buses are continuing over the regular route, but westbound buses are being diverted around the construction via Yonge Street, Imperial Street, and Duplex Avenue. Additional time will be added to the schedule to reduce the effects of delays, and the service will change from every 16 min to every 20 min.

Eastbound - Regular route from Caledonia to regular northbound 14 Glencairn platform at Davisville Stn.

Westbound - North through Davisville Stn, east on Chaplin Crescent, north on Yonge Street, west on Imperial Street, south on Duplex Avenue, west on Chaplin Crescent to regular route.

31 Greenwood

Service reduction

  • Two trips will be discontinued, because of low ridership.

Trip details

The 1:21 a.m. Monday-Friday last southbound departure from Greenwood Stn will be discontinued. The new last southbound trip will depart at 12:48 a.m.
The 1:33 a.m. Monday-Friday last northbound departure from Queen Street will be discontinued. The new last northbound trip will depart at 1:05 a.m.

509 Harbourfront

Seasonal service increase

  • Service will be increased in the early evenings on weekends and holidays, because of increased ridership along Harbourfront in the summer. The service will change from every 20 min to every 10 min.

New seasonal service

  • Late evening service will be operated, seven days a week, because ridership increases along Harbourfront in the summer. Service will operate every 20 min from Monday to Friday, and every 10 min on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

New seasonal service

  • Service to Exhibition Place will start an hour earlier on Saturday mornings because of increased activities at Exhibition Place in the summer.

Summer weekend fare collection at Union Station

  • On Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from May 12 to September 2, a modified fare collection procedure at Harbourfront will be used, in order to speed boarding at busy stops at busy times. Customers who board streetcars at the eastbound stops on Queens Quay at Bathurst Street, Portland Street, Spadina Avenue, Rees Street, Simcoe Street, and York Street, and at the northbound platform at Queens Quay Station, will enter the streetcars through any door and will not pay a fare or be issued a transfer. Customers boarding cars at these stops will pay heir fares instead when leaving the streetcar loop at Union Station. Normal pay-as-you-enter fare collection and transfer-issuing procedures will be used at all other stops on the 509 Harbourfront and the 510 Spadina routes.

  • This fare collection procedure will be used up to and including Labour Day. From Monday to Friday during the summer, and seven days a week after Labour Day, normal pay-as-you-enter fare collection will apply at all stops.

191 Highway 27 Rocket

Seasonal hours of service change

  • Several trips on the 191A Highway 27 Rocket (Humber College-Kipling Stn) branch will be removed for the summer, as classes at Humber College end in early May, and ridership will decline after then.

These trips will be cancelled:

Northbound trips from Kipling Station at 8:50, 9:10, 9:30, 9:50, 10:10, and 10:30 a.m.
Southbound trips from Humber College at 9:29, 9:49, 10:09, and 10:29 a.m.

169 Huntingwood

New route number

  • The route number will be changed from 139 Huntingwood to 169 Huntingwood.

Service reduction

  • One trip will be discontinued, because of low ridership.

Trip details

The 9:05 a.m. Monday-Friday westbound departure from Scarborough Centre Stn will be discontinued.

37 Islington

Service increase

  • Service will be increased on the 37A Islington (Islington Stn-Woodbine Centre and Humberwood via Rexdale Blvd) branch in the afternoon peak period from Monday to Friday, to reduce crowding. The service will change from every 21 min to every 17 min.

New midday service to Highway 7

  • New service to Highway 7 will be operated during the midday from Monday to Friday. The service will operate every 30 min, on the existing 37D Islington (Islington Stn-Highway 7 via Pine Valley) branch. There will be no change to service south of Steeles Avenue.

35 Jane

Route change

  • Service on Shoreham Drive and Murray Ross Parkway will be changed, so that all buses operate counter-clockwise on this on-street loop. Buses operating via Shoreham and Murray Ross will be designated the 35B (Jane Stn-Steeles via Pioneer Village) branch, and the 35 (Jane Stn-Steeles via Pioneer Village) branch designation will no longer be used. With this change, buses to Steeles and Pioneer Village will no longer operate via Hullmar Drive and Peter Kaiser Drive.

  • There will be no change to service levels. The new 35B branch will operate from about 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., every day.

107 Keele North

Seasonal routing change

  • At the request of York Region Transit, service will be removed from York University for the summer, as ridership will be reduced as the York University term ends. There will be no change to the service levels. The fare zone boundary overlap between Steeles and York Boulevard allows customers travelling in either direction between Vaughan and the York University area to travel at one fare between Vaughan and the stop on Keele Street at York Boulevard.

Extension to Teston Rd

  • Service will be extended to Teston Road, and will operate all day from Monday to Friday, and during the daytime and early evening on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Buses will turn around on an on-street loop via Drummond Drive, Cranston Park Avenue, and Teston Road. The new service will be known as the 107C (Downsview Stn-Teston Rd) branch, and will replace the present 107C (Downsview Stn-Major Mackenzie), and 107 (Downsview Stn-Rutherford) branches. With the elimination of the 107 (Downsview Stn-Rutherford) branch, service will no longer be operated on Jacob Keffer Parkway or Gantner Gate. There will be no significant change to service levels.

Revised routing and new midday service in Langstaff Rd industrial area

  • Service to the Rivermede/Langstaff Road industrial area will be revised, new service will be provided on Basaltic Road, and new service will be operated during the midday from Monday to Friday. Buses will no longer operate around a clockwise on-street loop, but will instead operate in both directions via Keele Street, Rivermede Road, North Rivermede Road, Langstaff Road, Planchet Road, Basaltic Drive, Westburne Drive, and Rutherford Road. Service will be removed from Langstaff Road between Keele Street and Planchet Road, and northbound 107B service will be removed from Keele Street between Rivermede Road and Langstaff Road. The new service will be know as the 107B (Downsview Stn-Rutherford GO Stn via Chesswood) branch, and will replace the present 107B (Downsview Stn-Langstaff Rd via Chesswood) branch.

56 Leaside

Service increase

  • A new earlier round-trip will be added on the 56B (Donlands Stn-Brentcliffe) branch, leaving Brentcliffe Road and Eglinton Avenue at 5:43 a.m., from Monday to Friday.

  • The present first trip on the 56 (Donlands Stn-Eglinton Stn) branch will be changed to depart earlier at 5:54 a.m. to better match the arrival time of the first subway trip at Eglinton Station.

51 Leslie

Service reduction

  • Three trips will be discontinued on Eglinton Avenue, because of low ridership.

  • Service will be increased in the morning peak period, Monday to Friday, to reduce crowding. An additional southbound trip will depart Steeles Avenue at 7:30 a.m.

New Sunday/holiday service to Major Mackenzie

  • New service to Major Mackenzie Drive will be operated during the early morning on Saturdays, and the daytime and early evening on Sundays and holidays. Service will also be operated approximately one hour later on Saturdays, so that the last departures every day are at approximately 11:00 p.m. The service will operate approximately every 40 min on the existing 129A McCowan North (Scarborough Centre Stn-Major Mackenzie) branch. There will be no change to service south of Steeles Avenue.

57 Midland

Service increase

  • Six trips will be added, to reduce crowding.

A new earlier 4:50 a.m. Monday-Friday northbound departure from Kennedy Station will be added.
A new 8:14 a.m. Monday-Friday northbound departure from Kennedy Station will be added.

  • Service will be reduced during the midday and afternoon peak period from Monday to Friday, and the daytime on Saturday, so that the resources can be used to increase service on other routes. One bus will be removed at each of these times. During the midday from Monday to Friday, the service will change from every 15 min to every 22 min. During the afternoon peak period, the service will change from every 11 min to every 15 min. During the daytime on Saturday, the service will change from every 15 min to every 22 min

131 Nugget

New Sunday evening service

  • New service will be operated during the early evenings on Sundays and holidays. The service will operate every 25 min, with the same trip times as during the early evening on Saturdays.

72 Pape

Service reduction

  • One trip from Commissioners Street will be discontinued, because of low ridership.

Trip details

The 5:21 a.m. Monday-Friday first northbound departure from Cherry Street will start northbound on Carlaw Avenue at Eastern Avenue at 5:26 a.m.

134 Progress

Seasonal service reduction

  • Service will be reduced during the morning peak period from Monday to Friday, as ridership declines due to a reduction in the number of students travelling to Centennial College. Service on the 134C (Scarborough Centre-Centennial College) branch will change from every 5 min to every 8 min.

501/301 Queen, and 508 Lake Shore

Track reconstruction

  • Several track and bridge reconstruction projects will be undertaken on The Queensway, starting in mid-May and lasting throughout the summer. These projects are:

  • Track on The Queensway between Humber River and Humber Loop.

  • Bridge, track, and platform reconstruction at Parkside Drive.

  • Track at Humber Loop.

  • Meanwhile, construction on the Queen Street bridge over the Don River and on Lake Shore Boulevard from Dwight Avenue to 17th Street, which started in early April, will continue.

  • During these works the 501 Queen route will be changed to operate with streetcars between Neville Park Loop and Sunnyside Loop (diverted via Broadview, Dundas and Parliament in both directions), and with buses between downtown and Long Branch. The 508 Lake Shore route will be changed to operate with buses. The 301 Queen overnight route will be changed to operate with buses over its entire length.

  • Seven school trips operating on the 53 Steeles East route will be removed because Brebeuf College School has closed for renovations until September 2003. Two westbound trips currently departing from the Steeles/Bayview loop at 2:50 and 3:00 p.m. will continue to operate unchanged and one eastbound trip currently departing from in front of Brebeuf College School will continue to operate but will be changed to depart eastbound from the Steeles/Bayview loop a few minutes later at 2:46 p.m.

New evening and Saturday service to Markham Rd

  • New service will be operated on the 53B (Finch Stn-Markham Rd) branch during the early evening from Monday to Friday and the daytime on Saturdays. The service will operate every 7 min during the early evening and every 10 min on Saturdays. TTC fares only are accepted on this service.

60 Steeles West

Seasonal service reduction

  • Seasonal service reductions will be made, to match reduced ridership levels during the summer as a result of reduced travel to and from York University. The additional service which is operated between approximately 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. will be removed for the summer.

Buses will operate through the Allstate Parkway commercial area northbound before noon, and southbound after noon, every day. There will be no change to service south of Steeles Avenue.

165 Weston Rd North

Seasonal route extension

  • At the request of York Region Transit, service will be extended to Canada's Wonderland, on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, from Sunday, May 5 to Sunday, October 13, 2002. The extended service will operate during the daytime and early evening on Saturdays, and during the daytime on Sundays and holidays.

  • Buses to the park will operate every 30 minutes during the daytime on Saturdays, approximately every 50 minutes during the evening on Saturdays, and every 40 to 48 minutes on Sundays and holidays. Trip times in Toronto will not change.
