Track reconstruction

The last track reconstruction projects on the Queen Street streetcar routes this year will take place, between Broadview and Empire avenues in the east end, and between Humber Loop and Park Lawn Drive in the west end.

Meanwhile, the track work at Humber Loop, and the bridge, track, and platform reconstruction at Parkside Drive on The Queensway, which started in May, will continue.

Construction on the Queen Street bridge over the Don River, which started in early April, will have ended in mid-July, and the Queen Street bridge will again be available for use by buses and streetcars.

During these works the 501 QUEEN route will be changed to operate with buses for the entire route. One branch will operate between Neville Park and Roncesvalles (diverted via Logan, Eastern and Broadview in both directions), and the other will operate between Neville Park and Long Branch (diverted via Park Lawn and The Queensway in the west, and via Logan, Eastern, and Broadview in the east, in both directions). The 502 DOWNTOWNER, 503 KINGSTON RD, and the 301 QUEEN overnight routes will be changed to operate with buses and will be diverted the same way as the 501 QUEEN buses.

The temporary diversion for the 504 KING streetcars and 303 DON MILLS buses, which was in effect from April, will end.

All track work is scheduled to be completed by the Labour Day weekend. The last day of the temporary service will be Saturday, August 31, 2002, and all service will return to the usual routings and vehicle types on Sunday, September 1, 2002.

501 Roncesvalles buses, westbound: From Neville Park Loop,
west on Queen Street, south on Logan Avenue, west on Eastern Street, north
on Broadview Avenue, west on Queen Street to Sunnyside Loop.
