ANGLESEY
Service
improvement
-
A
new eastbound trip will be added in the afternoon peak period from
Silverthorn Collegiate Institute, at Mill Road and Markland Drive (north
intersection). The bus which now leaves eastbound from Rathburn and Mill
Road at 3:23 p.m. will start in service northbound at Silverthorn C.I. at
approximately 3:17 p.m., and operate to Royal York Station. This trip will
provide service from this busy school in the afternoon, at little additional
cost. The trip will be the only service scheduled to operate on Mill Road,
between Markland Drive and Rathburn Road.
5
AVENUE RD
Service
reduction
-
A
trip which leaves from Oriole Parkway and Lonsdale (Upper Canada College) at
3:45 p.m. and runs to St. Clair Station will be removed. This trip was added
in February 1996 to continue one busy trip of the 33 Forest Hill route,
which was removed at that time as a result of the reductions in funding for
transit by the municipal and provincial governments. The trip has been used
by very few customers.

BAY
Seasonal
service ends
-
Early-evening
service on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays will end after Labour Day. On
Sunday, September 6, early-evening service will be operated at the
divisional level.
50
BURNHAMTHORPE
Service
reduction
-
The
Monday to Friday late evening 50A BURNHAMTHORPE (Islington Stn-Mill Rd and
Rathburn) service will be removed. The last trip on the route from Monday to
Friday will now depart eastbound from Burnhamthorpe and Mill Road at 10:00
p.m., and westbound from lslington Station at 10:15 p.m. This last westbound
trip will operate on the 50 BURNHAMTHORPE (Islington Stn-Mill Rd) branch,
and will deadhead back to Queensway Division from the Burnhamthorpe/Mill Rd
loop.
506/306
CARLTON
Track
reconstruction
-
Because
of the replacement of tangent and curved track on Coxwell Avenue, between
Lower and Upper Gerrard streets, and the special track work at the
intersection at Coxwell and Lower Gerrard, service on the 506/306 CARLTON
streetcar route will be changed for the September board period. This track
project will use, for the first time, the TTC's new temporary
"top-on-track" crossovers.
-
From
Monday to Friday, all service on the 506/306 CARLTON route will be provided
with streetcars, which will operate on a single track past the construction
site, using the temporary crossovers. Up to eight minutes of additional
round-trip running time will be added, to allow for the temporary operation
and any small delays which may result. Either one or two streetcars will be
added, at different times. Headways will be unchanged from the normal
non-summer service levels.
-
On
all weekends during the board period, the temporary crossovers will either
be set up, moved, or taken down, or the curved track will be rebuilt, or the
special work at Gerrard and Coxwell will be under construction. Service on
Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, therefore, will be changed, so that
506/306 CARLTON Streetcars operate between High Park and the Queen/Coxwell
Loop, and a replacement bus service is operated between Main Street Station
and Broadview Avenue, looping via Gerrard, Broadview, Dundas, River, and
Gerrard. During the one weekend when the special track work at Gerrard and
Coxwell is rebuilt, streetcars will be diverted at the divisional level.
-
Buses
will come from Danforth Division. Operators will be a mixture of Russell and
Danforth operators.

FRONT-ESPLANADE
Seasonal
service ends
-
Service
to Ontario Place and Exhibition Place will end after Labour Day. All buses
will turn at Bathurst Quay. Sunday and holiday service will end, and the
hours of operation from Monday to Saturday will return to the hours operated
in the March 1998 board period. On Sunday, September 6, service to Ontario
Place and Exhibition Place will be operated at the divisional level. The
split operation of the route as two branches during the afternoon peak
period will be removed.
35
JANE
Stopping
pattern changes
-
The
stopping pattern of the 35E JANE EXPRESS (Jane Stn-York University) service
will be changed, to speed up service for customers on the route, and to
avoid the need for an increase in running time, which would increase the
current 15 min headway. The stops at Dundas and Trethewey/Denison will be
eliminated. Customers using the 35E branch at these stops will need to use
the local service. With this change, the 35E branch will serve Jane Station,
Woolner/Foxwell, Eglinton, Weston Road, Lawrence,
Maple Leaf/Church, Falstaff/Gordon MacKay, Wilson, and all stops at and
north of Sheppard.
Service
improvement
-
At
the request of Vaughan Transit, the routing of the 35D (Jane Stn-Langstaff)
branch will be changed at all times from Monday to Saturday, and service
will be increased during the peak periods. The new routing for the 35D
branch will be from Jane Station, north on Jane, west on Applewood, north on
Edgeley, east on Courtland, south on Jane, east on Langstaff, south on
Creditstone, west on Pippin, south on Jane to Jane Station. Before noon,
buses will lay over on Pippin just east of Jane. After noon, buses will
layover on Applewood, just west of Jane. This routing will improve service
to the industrial areas east and west of Jane Street.

Routing
revision
-
The
routing at Pearson Airport will be changed, because of a long-term
construction project at the airport which is beginning in 1998. Buses will
serve Terminal 2 first, and then will serve a stop near the site of the
former administration building. The third stop in the airport, near the
entrance to Terminal 1, will no longer be served. There will no longer be a
change in routing at 9:30 a.m. Before 12:00 noon, seven days a week, any
necessary layovers will be taken at the administration building stop. After
noon, seven days a week, any layovers will be taken at Terminal 2.

Department. During the midday from Monday to Friday, lift-equipped buses
will run on the 85C (Sheppard Stn-Victoria Park) and 85G (Sheppard

section of Sheppard Avenue between Sheppard Station and Brimley Road. On
Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, lift-equipped buses will continue to run
on the 85 (Sheppard Stn-Meadowvale), 85B (Sheppard Stn-Toronto Zoo), and 85J
(Sheppard Stn-Morningside) branches.
-
The
wheelchair symbols will be removed from the bus stops on Sheppard Avenue
east of Brimley Road and from the bus stops on East Avenue and Meadowvale
