BRIMLEY and KENNEDY
  • Effective Sunday April 15th, the PINE HILLS bus route will be replaced by the new KENNEDY and BRIMLEY routes.

  • KENNEDY buses will run from Luttrell Loop via Danforth Avenue, Danforth Road and Kennedy to loop just north of Lawrence at Forbes while the BRIMLEY route runs from Luttrell Loop via Danforth Avenue, Danforth Road and Brimley to loop at Gage. During visiting hours, certain trips will operate north on Brimley and east on Lawrence to the new Scarborough General Hospital at Mc Cowan Road and Lawrence.

DAWES-ELLESMERE

  • Service will provided all-day on the DAWES-ELLESMERE route.

PHARMACY

  • The PHARMACY route will be changed to serve Eglinton Avenue between Kennedy Road and Danforth Road with the present extension in rush hours and afternoons to Kingston Road.

2 ANGLESEY

  • Extended to Firwood Crescent to serve the north Glen Agar district.

11 BAYVIEW 

  • Hours of service extended on weekdays and Saturday service started.

15B BRIMLEY

  • All trips to operate to the Scarborough General Hospital at Mc Cowan and Lawrence.

23D DAWES

  • Service extended north on Victoria Park to Sheppard to serve the Town and Country and Wishing Well districts.

25A DON MILLS

  • Route extended to operate west on York Mills, south on Leslie Street and east on Lawrence providing a new service on Leslie Street between York Mills and Lawrence. Initially service provided Monday to Friday, 12 hours a day every 45-minutes.

80A REXDALE

  • Extended to Genthorn Avenue to better serve Kipling Heights and Sunny Dale Acres.

SUBWAY RIDING INCREASING

  • More than six million passengers were carried on the subway in September 1956, a gain of  220,000 over Septemeber 1955. To handle the additional riding, service was increased 10% last month with additional 8-car trains in rush hours and full 8-car trains in normal hours throughout the day.

70 O'CONNOR

  • O'CONNOR route permanently extended from Victoria Park and Eglinton Loop to a large loop via Craighton, Rannock and Pharmacy. This loop had been in use for a long time temporarily during road construction in Golden Mile area.
