Authorization
from the department of National Defense, gave the Commission the authority
to operate this service through the R.C.A.F. Downsview Air Base. Many
special arrangements had to be made, in view of the security regulations
which had to be adhered to. Specific TTC stops are now made within the
Downsview Property at locations where security personnel can check alighting
passengers to ensure they have the necessary special passes. TTC Operators
are also affected by the security regulations. While operating within the
'restricted' areas, they are requested in an emergency to remain with the
bus and seek assistance from base personnel or passing vehicles. Considering
that this area is out-of-bounds to other users of the roads, the Commission
readily complied.
