West Toronto Changes
18 CALEDONIA

Route name discontinued.
Service on Caledonia will be
replaced by the extended 47B/47C LANSDOWNE route, providing a more
convenient north/south connection with the Bloor-Danforth subway. Service on
Davenport is provided by 127 DAVENPORT route. Service on Dovercourt
will be replaced by the new 161 ROGERS RD route. There will be no
service on Caledonia Park Rd. between St. Clair and Davenport.
41 KEELE
-
Rerouted to Keele Station.
Buses on 41, 41A and 41B branches will
run both ways between Keele Station and Steeles/Petrolia via York University
(41B), York University (41) and Wilson/Forthbridge (41A) via Keele, St.
Clair, Old Weston Rd., Rogers Rd., Keele and the existent routing.
Service on Old Weston Rd., Davenport and Symington will be provided by the
new 168 SYMINGTON route. Note that service on the "York
University" branch will be redisignated as 41.
47 LANSDOWNE

Extended to Yorkdale Station replacing part of the
18 CALEDONIA
route. 47B buses will run both ways between Queen and Yorkdale
Station via Lansdowne, St. Clair, Caledonia, Bridgeland and Yorkdale
Perimeter Rd. 47C buses will run during Monday to Friday rush hours
only, over the same routing, except via Orfus instead of via Bridgeland.
Additional service (47) will be provided at all times on Lansdowne between
St. Clair and Queen. 47B/47C buses will not enter the loop at St.
Clair and Lansdowne.

will run both ways between Ossington Station and Jane via Concord, Bloor,
Dovercourt, Oakwood, Rogers Rd., Weston Rd., Humber Blvd. and Alliance,
looping via Jane, Outlook and Rockcliffe to Humber Blvd. Buses run via
Cliff, Cordella and Louvian on the return trip to Ossington Station. Service
after 11 p.m. every day, and early Sunday morning service will run between
Ossington Station and Bicknell Loop (Rogers Rd. west of Keele) only (161A).
168 SYMINGTON

A new route replacing the south part of the
41 KEELE route. Buses
will run both ways between Dundas West Station and Bicknell Loop (Rogers Rd.
west of Keele) via Bloor, Symington, Davenport, Old Weston Rd. and Rogers
Rd., providing a more convenient subway connection. Early Sunday
morning service will run between Dundas West Station and St. Clair & Old
Weston Rd. only (168A).
New Express Services
32E EGLINTON WEST
-
New Monday-Friday rush hour service will run both ways via Eglinton
between Eglinton West Station and Renforth/Skymark. Express
buses will serve all stops both ways between Renforth/Skymark and Weston
Rd.; they'll run express both ways between Weston Rd. and Eglinton West
Station, stopping at Keele, Caledonia and Dufferin only. In conjunction with
the new express service, Monday-Friday rush hour "Jane &
Emmett" service will be extended to run between Eglinton Station and
Jane (32A).
52E LAWRENCE WEST
-
New Monday-Friday rush hour service will run both ways via Lawrence
and The Westway between Lawrence Station and Martin Grove. Express
buses will serve all stops both ways between Martin Grove and Jane; they'll
run express both ways between Jane and Lawrence Station, stopping at Keele,
Caledonia and Dufferin, Lawrence West Station, Bathurst and Avenue Rd.
only. In conjunction with the new express service, the existing
"Culford" branch will be redesignated 52C. Also note that
the designation "West" has been added to the route name for all
branches.
84 SHEPPARD WEST

New Monday-Friday rush hour service will run both ways via Sheppard
between Sheppard Station and Weston Rd. Express buses will
serve all stops both ways between Weston Rd. and Keele; they'll run express
both ways between Keele and Sheppard Station, stopping at Chesswood,
Wilson Heights, Faywood/Wilmington and Bathurst only.
York University Changes

Monday-Friday rush hour express service extended to
York University. Buses will run both ways between Jane Station and
York Lanes Common Area at York University via Jane, Steeles, Founders and
Fraser. Express buses will serve all stops both ways between York
University and Sheppard & Jane; they'll run express both ways between
Sheppard and Jane Station, stopping at Wilson, Maple Leaf/Church, Lawrence,
Trethewey, Weston Rd., Eglinton, Foxwell/Woolner and Dundas only.

Wicksteed, Beth Nealson, Thorncliffe Park Drive, Overlea and Millwood to
Sutherland. 88 buses loop clockwise via Wicksteed; 88A buses loop
counterclockwise via Overlea.
88B SOUTH LEASIDE

Evening and all day Sunday routing revised. Buses
will run both ways between St. Clair Station and Thorncliffe via Pleasant,
Avoca, St. Clair, Welland, Moore, Bayview, Sutherland, clockwise via
Thorncliffe Park Drive until 3:00 p.m. on Sundays; after 3 p.m. on Sundays,
and during Monday-Saturday evenings, buses will loop counterclockwise.
Note that evening and all day Sunday service will no longer be provided on
Millwood between Sutherland and Laird.

New through Monday-Friday rush hour service from
downtown to Long Branch. Streetcars will run from King & Church
via King, Queensway, Humber Loop and Lake Shore to Long Branch Loop.
Streetcars will leave King & Yonge at 4:25 p.m., 4:36 p.m., 4:47 p.m.,
4:58 p.m. and 5:09 p.m. Morning rush hour service will continue to
leave Long Branch Loop at 7:21 a.m., 7: 32 a.m. and 7:43 a.m., and run via
Lake Shore, Humber Loop, Queensway and King to Parliament.

Extended to Long Branch Loop replacing part of the

Queensway route. Buses will run both ways between Kipling Station
and Long Branch Loop via Aukland, Dundas, Shorncliffe, North Queen, East
Mall, Evans, Sherway Gardens, Evans, Brown's Line and Lake Shore, providing
a direct connection from the Long Branch/Brown's Line area. Note that
separate stops are provided in Sherway Gardens for northbound and southbound
buses. 123A buses will continue to provide a one-way Monday-Friday
rush hour service on North Queen and Queensway, to Sherway Gardens in the
morning and to Kipling Station in the afternoon. A new 123B branch
will provide additional Monday-Friday rush hour service via East Mall and
Evans, to Kipling Station in the morning and to Sherway Gardens in the
afternoon.

Extended to Disco Rd. Buses will run both ways
between Kipling Station and Disco Rd. over the regular routing from Kipling
Station (via Rangoon) to International & Carlingview, then via
International, Galaxy, Skyway, Attwell, McLachlan, Brockport, Marmac and
Attwell, looping via Disco, Brockport and Belfield. Hours of
service on the branch will be expanded to run continuously Monday
through Friday from about 5:45 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Monday-Friday extension of rush hour and local service
to Markham Rd. Buses will run both ways between Finch Station and an
off-street loop on Markham Rd. north of Steeles, via Yonge and
Steeles. 53E express buses will serve all stops both ways between
Markham Rd. and Victoria Park; they'll run express both ways between
Victoria Park and Finch Station, stopping at Woodbine, Don Mills and Bayview
only.

Buses will serve the new loop at Centenary Health
Centre. During Monday-Friday rush hours, buses will serve the loop
eastbound/northbound in the morning and southbound/westbound in the
afternoon. During Monday-Friday off-peak hours and at all times during the
weekend, all buses will serve the loop in both directions.

Changes in the Tandridge Area
& New Service into Thistledown
96C WILSON

New Monday-Friday rush hour branch into Tandridge and
Thistledown areas. Buses will run both ways between York Mills
Station and Islington & Albion Rd. via Wilson, Wilson Station, Wilson,
Albion Rd., Arcot, clockwise via Tandridge Cres, Arcot, Albion Rd.,
Thistledown Blvd. (looping clickwise), Albion Rd., and Islington, looping
via Barkwin and Wardlaw. The branch will provide a more
convenient connection with the subway, and will give those in the
Tandridge area a new service to the Albion Rd./Islington area. If
you're boarding in the Tandridge or Thistledown area, be sure to check the
destination sign of the bus, as buses in both direction will serve the same
stops.
59A MAPLE LEAF

In conjunction with the introduction of the new 96C
WILSON branch, buses providing Monday-Friday rush hour service on Gary Drive
will be redisignated 59A and will run both ways between Lawrence West
Station and Weston Rd. via Lawrence, Culford, Maple Leaf, Church,
Elgin, Pelmo, Gary and Oak, looping via Weston Rd. and Knob Hill
Drive. Service into the Tandridge area will be provided by the new 96C
branch of the WILSON route from York Mills and Wilson Stations.

Brenyon Way & Sewells and then loop via northeast on Sewells, west on
McLevin, north, east and south on Hupfield and west on Sewells to Brenyon
Way.

Service on the route is provided Monday-Friday only during the
morning rush hour and from about 2:45 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Buses will no longer provide service on Morningside Avenue, into the
Venture Drive/Thornmount industrial area or via Neilson and Sewells between
McLevin and Brenyon Way.
STREETCAR TRACK
RECONSTRUCTION

Spring
is almost here and the TTC track gang will be out in force keeping the rail of
our over 200 kilometres of streetcar track in good operating condition. The
first major job of the year is Queen Street between Bay and University.
-
Starting Monday, March 28, 501 (Neville
Park to Humber) and 301 (Neville Park to Long Branch) QUEEN streetcars will
divert around the track construction both ways via Spadina, King and Church.
During the construction period, customers travelling on
Queen Street, east of Parliament or west of Bathurst should
transfer between QUEEN cars and the subway on King Street at St. Andrew
Station (University Avenue) or King Station (Yonge Street).

Buses will be allowed through the track construction;
501/301 QUEEN shuttle buses will provide a 24-hour service on Queen Street
between Bathurst and Parliament. Also, the 502
DOWNTOWNER Monday-Friday streetcar service will be converted to buses between
Victoria Park & Kingston Rd. and McCaul Loop. These diversions and alternate
services will be in effect until the start of service on Sunday, May 8.

This is the first of the scheduled 1994 track
projects, which, at this time, include Queen East between
Connaught and Coxwell, Bathurst between Dundas and Nassau, Gerrard Street
between Broadview and Carlaw, Howard Park Avenue, west of Roncesvalles, and
the intersections of King & Dufferin, King & Bathurst and Queen & Bathurst.

May 8, new route diversions on Queen will take place during the construction
on Queen Street East between Connaught (Russell Car House) and Coxwell.

The
502 DOWNTOWNER Monday-Friday Service will continue to be provided by buses
between Victoria Park and McCaul via Kingston Rd. and Queen.
-
The
503 KINGSTON RD. rush hour streetcars will be replaced by buses between
Victoria Park and York via Kingston Rd., Queen and King.
-
The
501 QUEEN streetcar service will be provided between Humber Loop and
Connaught via Queensway and Queen, 18 hours a day, with an additional bus
shuttle service running on Queen between Bathurst and Neville Park.

The
301 QUEEN Blue Night Network service will be provided by buses running from
Long Branch Loop and Neville Park Loop via Lake Shore Blvd., Park Lawn,
Queensway and Queen. There will be no service to Humber Loop.

These
diversions and alternate services will be in effect until the start of
services on Sunday, June 19.
29 DUFFERIN
13 ROUGE HILL and 85 SHEPPARD
EAST

We're
revising the service on Sheppard Avenue East to provide through weekday bus
service between Yonge Subway and Route Hill GO Station. This will be
especially beneficial to residents in the Rouge Hill area who will no longer
have to transfer between buses at Meadowvale & Sheppard.
Co-incident with the new through service, the 13 ROUGE HILL route name and
number will be discontinued.

WEEKDAYS
- Starting Monday, May 9 - 85A SHEPPARD EAST buses will provide local
service during off-peak hours between Sheppard Station and Rouge Hill GO
Station via Sheppard, Port Union, Island Rd. and East Avenue. Last
trips will leave Sheppard Station at 9:12 p.m. and Rouge Hill GO Station at
10:18 p.m. During rush hours 85E SHEPPARD EAST EXPRESS buses will run
over the same routing, but will run express between Sheppard Station and
Victoria Park, stopping at Don Mills only. Additional buses (85) will run
local both ways between Sheppard Station and Meadowvale during off-peak and
rush hours to maintain the existing level of service on that part of the
route. There's no change to the 85C "Victoria Park", 85G
"Scarborough Centre" or "McCowan Express" routings.

WEEKENDS
- Starting Sunday, May 8 - Service will continue to be provided between
Sheppard Station and Metro Zoo (85B) and will also be provided between
Sheppard Station and Rouge Hill GO Station via Metro Zoo (signed as 85D
between the Zoo and Rouge Hill GO Station ). 85H service between
Meadowvale & Sheppard and Rouge Hill GO Station will be provided until
about 9:40 p.m. Later service in the evening on Sheppard Avenue will
continue to run between Sheppard Station and Meadowvale (85).

Starting Sunday, June 19, TTC crews will begin replacing the streetcar tracks
on Bathurst Street between Nassau and Dundas. To accommodate this work,
regular service on the 511 BATHURST route between Bathurst Station and the
Exhibition will be provided by buses for a 5-week period.

In
September and October, the replacement of streetcar track in the
Queen/Bathurst and King/Bathurst intersection will again require bus
replacement for streetcars on the Bathurst route.

every day after 9:00 a.m.

September 6. In the morning rush hour, 54E express buses will run
local from Starspray Blvd. to Markham Rd., then run express to Lawrence East
RT Station, stopping at McCowan only. In the afternoon rush, 54E buses run
express from Lawrence East RT Station to Markham Rd., stopping at
McCowan only, then run local to Starspray Blvd.
BATHURST/QUEEN TRACK
REPLACEMENT - SEPTEMBER 4 TO OCTOBER 8

During
September, we'll be replacing the track in the Queen/Bathurst intersection.

During
the reconstruction, buses will replace streetcars on Bathurst and Fleet at
all times on the 511 BATHURST route between Bathurst Station and Exhibition
East Loop. Some diversions may be required around the construction
area.

For
two weekends, September 9 to 11 and 16 to 18, 501 and 301 QUEEN streetcars
will divert both ways via Shaw, King and Church. A shuttle bus will be
provided on Queen Street between Shaw and Church.
HOWARD PARK TRACK REPLACEMENT
- SEPTEMBER 4 TO OCTOBER 8

During
September, we'll be replacing the track on Howard Park Avenue between
Roncesvalles and Parkside (High Park Loop).

During
the reconstruction, 506 CARLTON streetcars will be diverted at Dundas &
Howard Park to Dundas West Station. Unfortunately, Howard Park Avenue
is not wide enough to accommodate buses during the track replacement.
A replacement shuttle bus service will be provided between High Park Loop
and Dundas West Station via Parkside Drive and Bloo Street.

Sunday, October 9, we'll be replacing the track on Gerrard Street between
Broadview and Carlaw.

the reconstruction, 506 CARLTON streetcars will run between High Park Loop
and Broadview, looping via Gerrard, Broadview, Dundas and Parliament. 506
CARLTON buses will run between College & Spadina and Main Street
Station.

Blue
Night Network 306 CARLTON service (from about 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. every
night) will be provided by buses between Dundas West Station and Main Street
Station.

Because
of the narrow roadway through the construction area, it will be necessary to
divert buses on both the 506 and 306 routes both ways via Broadview, Dundas
and Carlaw.
