506 Carlton

Track reconstruction ends

  • Weekend track construction will end, and normal streetcar service on the 506/306 Carlton routes will resume.

111 East Mall , 32 Eglinton West 

Temporary running time increase ends

  • The City of Toronto project to rebuild the Eglinton Avenue bridge over Mimico Creek is scheduled to end in mid-October, and the schedule changes which were made to compensate for traffic congestion caused by the construction will end.

15 Evans

  • The City of Toronto project to rebuild the Royal York Road bridge over Mimico Creek (south of Bloor Street) is scheduled to end by October, and the schedule changes which were made to compensate for traffic congestion caused by construction will end.

509 Harbourfront  

End of seasonal service

  • Service will return to fall levels, to match seasonal ridership changes along Harbourfront. Service will be operated every 13 minutes during the daytime on Saturdays, and every 20 minutes during the evenings and the daytime on Sundays and holidays. Sunday early evening service will be eliminated for the fall and winter, and will resume in April/May 2002.

139 Huntingwood  

Subway construction ends

  • Sheppard Subway construction on Sheppard Avenue will be nearing completion by mid-October 2001, and construction-related road restrictions will be greatly reduced. Schedule changes which were made over the past few years to compensate for traffic congestion caused by construction will end. There will be no change to service levels. Some trip times will change.

37 Islington  

New service – Under contract to York Region Transit

  • At the request of York Region Transit, the 37 Islington route will be extended north into Vaughan along Pine Valley Drive. The new service will operate during the peak periods from Monday to Friday, and will provide new direct service from Islington Station and Islington Avenue to York Region and the Pine Valley Drive/Highway 7 area. Walking transfers will be permitted between the new service and the nearby York Region Transit/Brampton Transit Route 77 on Highway 7, and between the new service and the nearby 165 Weston Road North route on Weston Road.

  • The service will operate every 30 minutes in the morning peak period and every 34 minutes in the afternoon peak period. The fare zone boundary will be at Pine Valley Drive and Steeles Avenue, and fares and fare collection procedures in York Region and at the Toronto/York boundary will be the same as on all other TTC-operated York Region Transit services. Customers travelling in York Region will be required to pay a valid York Region Transit fare.

Northbound – From Islington Station, east on Bloor Street, north on Islington Avenue, east on Steeles Avenue (buses will not serve the Islington/Steeles off-street loop), north on Pine Valley Drive, east on Strada Drive, south on Trowers Road, east on Rowntree Dairy Road, north on Whitmore Road, east and south on Winges Road to Rowntree Dairy Road.

Southbound – From Winges Road and Rowntree Dairy Road, west, south, and west on Rowntree Dairy Road, north on Trowers Road, west on Strada Drive, south on Pine Valley Drive, west on Steeles Avenue, south on Islington Avenue (buses will not serve the Islington/Steeles off-street loop), west on Bloor Street to Islington Station.

New branch identification

  • The service which operates to Steeles & Kipling during the evenings on Sundays and holidays will be given a unique branch identification, to better identify the destination of the bus. The service will be known as the 37C (Islington Station-Steeles & Kipling) branch.

35 Jane

Service increase – Under contract to York Region Transit

  • At the request of York Region Transit, service will be increased on the 35D (Jane Station-Langstaff Road) branch during the morning peak period. The basic service will be improved from every 15 minutes to every 11 minutes. Additional northbound trips to Langstaff Road will continue to be operated during the busiest part of the morning peak period.

129 McCowan North  

Route change – Under contract to York Region Transit

  • At the request of York Region Transit, the 129 McCowan North route will be extended to Major Mackenzie Drive. This change will be made during all time periods that service is currently provided outside of Toronto. All trips which now turn around at 16th Avenue will be extended to Major Mackenzie, and the branch will be renamed 129A (Scarborough Centre-Major Mackenzie).

  • The new service will operate every 15 to 40 minutes, and will operate from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, and from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Northbound – From Scarborough Centre Station, east on Triton Gate, north on McCowan Road, west on Major Mackenzie Drive, south on Ridgecrest Road, west on Castlemore Avenue to The Bridle Walk.

197 North Yonge

Route changes – see Route 97 Yonge

  • The split of the former 97 Yonge route into two routes, 97 Yonge and 197 North Yonge, will end, and through service between Steeles, Davisville Station, and Queens Quay will resume. The 197 North Yonge route name and number will no longer be used. There will be no significant changes to service levels.

76 Royal York South

Temporary running time increase ends

Schedule change

  • Service during both the morning and afternoon peak periods on the 76B (Royal York Station-Queensway & Grand Avenue) branch will be changed so that buses run every 30 minutes, at the same two times every hour.

First trip at 6:53 a.m. Then at :23 and :53 past the hour until the last trip at 8:53 a.m.

Afternoon peak period – Southbound from Royal York Station to Grand Avenue
First trip at 3:40 p.m. Then at :10 and :40 past the hour until the last trip at 6:40 p.m.

86 Scarborough  

Seasonal service change – effective Monday, October 29, 2001

  • The hours of service to the Toronto Zoo will be changed to match the earlier fall closing time of the zoo, at 4:30 p.m. The last trip on the 86A Scarborough (Kennedy Station-Toronto Zoo) branch will leave the zoo at approximately 5:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

85 Sheppard East 

Seasonal service change – effective Saturday, November 3, 2001

  • The hours of service to the Toronto Zoo will be changed to match the earlier fall closing time of the zoo, at 4:30 p.m. The last trips on the 85B Sheppard East (Sheppard Station-Toronto Zoo) and 85D Sheppard East (Sheppard Station-Rouge Hill GO Station via Toronto Zoo) branches will leave the zoo at approximately 5:40 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

Subway construction ends

  • Sheppard Subway construction on Sheppard Avenue will be nearing completion by mid-October 2001, and construction-related road restrictions will be greatly reduced. Schedule changes which were made over the past few years to compensate for traffic congestion caused by construction will end.

  • There will be no change to service levels at most times of the day. During the afternoon peak period, the combined service west of Victoria Park Avenue will change from every 3 minutes 15 seconds to every 3 minutes 23 seconds.

168 Symington  

Service increase

  • Three additional northbound trips will be operated on the 168 (Dundas West Station–Weston Road) branch from Monday to Friday, leaving Dundas West Station between approximately 6:20 and 7:30 p.m. The additional trips are required to reduce crowding at the end of the afternoon peak period.

10 Van Horne 

Subway construction ends

  • Sheppard Subway construction on Sheppard Avenue will be nearing completion by mid-October 2001, and construction-related road restrictions will be greatly reduced. Schedule changes which were made over the past few years to compensate for traffic congestion caused by construction will end. During the afternoon peak period, the service will change from every 7 minutes to every 7 minutes 30 seconds.

165 Weston Road North  

Summer service change ends

  • The seasonal service to Canada’s Wonderland on the 165 Weston Road North route, which is operated under contract for York Region Transit, will end. The last day of service will be Sunday, October 7, 2001.

97 Yonge

Route changes
